Case study · SEO
How a new Montreal web studio got ready to rank in French and English.
The client
A new web studio for Quebec businesses.
Web Development Montreal builds websites for businesses in Montreal and across Quebec. It is a small team, and new.
The challenge
A new business that needed to be found.
As a new company, Web Development Montreal wanted its site to rank on Google, attract clients in Montreal and build a base for long-term organic traffic.
That meant finding the right keywords in two languages, because its clients search in French and in English.
What we did
Bilingual SEO and an AI assistant.
Before launch, we set up the site’s search foundations in both languages and built a chatbot to turn visitors into leads.
- Keyword research. The searches Montreal businesses make, in French and in English.
- On-page SEO. Titles, meta descriptions and site structure set up for those keywords.
- Custom AI chatbot. An assistant that answers visitor questions, explains the services and collects leads.
- Launch strategy. Content and SEO recommendations to follow before and after launch.
How we worked
Responsive, involved and open to feedback.
The work ran through video meetings, email and messaging. The chatbot took the most planning, and the client called it a major milestone. Along the way, the team suggested improvements beyond the original agreement at no extra charge.
The results
What’s in place.
It is too early to measure rankings or traffic. The client said they were happy with the SEO progress, the bilingual optimisation and the chatbot.
What we’ve been most impressed with is their willingness to go above and beyond what was originally agreed upon.
What’s next
Watching the rankings come in.
With the foundations in place, the next step is tracking rankings and traffic in both languages and building content around what works.
Lessons for your business
What other bilingual businesses can take from this.
- Research keywords in each language. French searches are not translations of English ones. Each language needs its own research.
- Set up SEO before launch. Titles, structure and keywords are easiest to get right before the site goes live.
- Answer questions at any hour. A chatbot catches visitors who would leave rather than fill in a form.
